Public Consultation on Climate Change and Insurance
The Department of Finance launched a public consultation ‘Climate Change and Insurance in the context of the “Climate Action Plan 2019 to Tackle Climate Breakdown”. This consultation seeks the views of all interested parties on insurance related matters in a climate change context, and in particular on the challenges posed by flooding.The Department of Finance has prepared a paper to facilitate the public consultation. The paper provides an overview of what the Government is doing to mitigate flood risk, the current insurance model in Ireland, the risk posed by climate change, and lessons from other countries.
