The Cork Puppetry Festival, organised by Dowtcha (www.dowtcha.com), is Ireland’s only puppet festival and has been running since 2014. With shows, workshops, film screenings, and the puppet picnic, the festival is the perfect way for children and adults alike to experience the best of Irish and international puppetry.

Events this year include

• Puppet Shows for all ages from Irish and international theater companies
• Lunar Themed Puppet Picnic & Parade at Fitzgerald’s Park on Monday 05 August, 12:00 – 15:00
• Family Puppet Making Workshops at St Peter’s and the Crawford Art Gallery from Friday 02 to Sunday 04 August
• Research and Practice Annual Discussion, focusing on the history and potential of puppetry as a political tool at the Crawford Art Gallery on Thursday 01 August, 18.30
