Member’s Plenary Meeting Wed 19 February, UCC

 

Thank you very much  for coming out to last Wednesday’s member’s Plenary meeting in UCC and thank you to UCC for hosting us.

Read the main outcomes below, including:

The LCDC has a broad remit for all issues to do with community development. Cork City PPN has 6 representatives on Cork city LCDC (Local Community Development Committee)

The Cork City PPN has secured an agenda item at each meeting. We would like to get as wide a set of issues as possible from the membership bring to the meetings. The PPN LCDC reps will consider the suitability for inclusion on the agenda.

The next meeting of the LCDC due to take place on Thursday 19 March.

Cork City PPN Community Wellbeing Consultations 

Over the coming months the Cork City PPN is planning a number of public consultations on Communitiy Wellbeing with communities in the expanded area of Cork City and Cork city centre, and additionally with new communities to Cork City and with Youth.

The purpose is to capture an updated vision of Wellbeing and more specifically to identify prioirities to feed into local and national consultations, concerning the future development of the City and country from a community perspective. This includes the upcoming Cork City Development Plan and the Cork City Council Local Economic and Community Plan – LECP

To carry out the consultations we will need a number of facilitators at each meeting – approx 6 and would appreciate help and support. We will be organising a PPN Welllbeing Consultation – Facilitator’s Meeting at the end of March and the first consultations will take place in Glanmire – Dates and details to follow in the coming weeks.

The Begin Together fund will support new and existing project-based activities with grants of up to €5,000 (or the sterling equivalent) for local, not for profit groups working to improve the financial physical and/or mental wellbeing of the communities they serve across all counties on the island of Ireland.

Applications are welcome from charities and not-for-profit community groups working in communities that address one or more of the strands of wellbeing as outlined in the fund criteria which can be found here.
