Joint Policing Committee (JPC) – Community Pillar Election 2019
LEASE NOTE ELECTION DATES HAVE BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL THURS 07 NOVEMBER 16:00
Meet the Nominees

I am a community First Responder and on the Safe Committee (A Suicide Awareness Group) also, so have a deep commitment to my community and what’s happening in the area.
I run a large informative Facebook Group with 6800 local members called Mums of Glanmire where I do my utmost to make sure mums are informed re all local issues in a positive way.

The Community Centre is one of the busiest centre’s in the city catering for young and young at heart. The Centre opens at 8.30am and closes at 10.30pm with Naonira, Youth Groups, Active Retired, Ladies Club, No Name Club, Meals on Wheels, Youth Project and various other groups all using premises.
The Community Centre got a major refurbishment back in 2008 which Derek was to the forefront on a daily basis working with City Hall Officials, Builders and Engineers to get the €1 million development complete. He also worked hand in hand with Cork City Council to secure funding from a number of Government Depts.
Voluntary work is very important to Derek’s Life involved in a number of Community Groups in the past such as LCDC, Cork Local Drugs and Alcohol Task Force, Mayfield Community Volunteer Award’s, Community Games and GAA etc. Community activity is very important to the local people with various service’s helping people on a daily basis.

I am heavily involved in running a range of events throughout each year, my favourite of which is the Classic and Vintage Car Show that brings together over 100 classic cars in Blarney village to raise money for charity.
I have a very strong interest in policing and community safety and would be delighted to have your support so I can join the City’s Joint Policing Committee.
