Overview

The Local Education Committee consists of parents, community members, Home School Community Liaison Coordinators and members of voluntary and statutory agencies all of whom are involved with the 5 schools in the area, i.e. Holy Cross N.S., Gaelscoil Mhachan, Scoil Ursula, Nagle Community College and the Ursulines Secondary Schools. The group meets 6 times a year to plan activities to address identified educational needs in the Community. The Committee has a Chairperson, treasurer and secretary and operates according to a constitution. The committee involves local people in improving the educational supports in the area. The committee liaises with relevant statutory and voluntary agencies, organises courses and events, promotes educational opportunities for children in the area, raises funds and receive contributions where appropriate to finance the projects organised by the committee and networks with other groups.
