Role of the LCDC
- to prepare the community elements of a 6-year Local Economic and Community Plan to implement, review, amend and monitor on an on-going basis the implementation of the community elements of the Plan
- to coordinate, manage and oversee the implementation of local and community development programmes that have been approved by the LCDC
- to improve the coordination of public-funded local and community development programmes and reduce duplication
- to coordinate generally the local and community development programmes within the operational area of the LCDC
Membership of LCDC
There are 19 members of the Cork City LCDC, including 3 Elected Members from the Council; Chief Executive City Council; Head of the Local Enterprise Office; Senior representative of the HSE; Senior representative of An Garda Síochána; Senior representative of the ETB; 6 members from the PPN; 1 member from the Cork City Partnership; 1 member of Cork Business Association; Senior representative from the Trade Union; Senior representative from the Employers sector i.e. IBEC
The time commitment required is 1 afternoon per month. The PPN Representatives on the LCDC serve a 4-year term with 2 being elected 3 out of every 4 years.
